Lettercutting & Memorials
After many years as a graphic designer, type regularly features in my current work. Be it poetry, quotations or epitaphs, I hand-carve lettering in wood, stone or slate using traditional methods and tools in a wide variety of styles.
Sculpture for Home & Garden
Previous commissions have included a wide range of sculptures and carvings, large and small, from bespoke jewellery to unique awards, mantelpieces, wall art, standing stones and hand-carved garden furniture.
Public Space Art
Art commissioned for public spaces includes a major installation for the Commonwealth Games, hand-carved signage, unique benches, prominent place installations, letter cutting and sculptures in wood, stone and slate.
A decade and a half of
carving experience
I was born in Aberdeen but now live and work overlooking the majestic River Spey, on the North-Eastern edge of the Cairngorms National Park in Scotland.
After many years as a self-employed commercial graphic designer in London, I left the bright lights behind me to swap 2D design for an extra dimension. I wanted to return to my native mountains and pursue my love of working with my hands in wood and stone.
I have now been working full-time on commissions in this field for over 15 years.
