The Speyside Way is a long distance trail that runs from the Moray Firth at Buckie up to (nearly) the source of the River Spey. It mostly follows the river along the old railway line (sadly terminated the year I was born by Beeching). Since moving to Speyside in 2009 I have walked most of the Speyside Way including 26 miles of it from Buckie to Aberlour as part of a Kilt Walk. But, I’m very pleased to say that the various councils of the areas that the Way crosses have done a very good job in recent years of upgrading the path. In 2020 they also extended the path from Aviemore another 19.5 miles to Newtonmore. I was asked to create a new stone marker to mark the new end/beginning of the Speyside Way as part of my Village art installation in the square. I was honoured to meet MSP Kate Forbes when she officially unveiled the marker.
