I have been approached by the Gordon Highlanders to produce a hand-carved stone memorial to be installed at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. This is a great honour for me. My father served with the battalion for 22 years. Two of my father’s uncles, Charlie and Geordie Michie also served with the Gordons and fought in WWII in Asia before being taken POW to work on the Burma-Thailand railway. The 92nd (Gordon Highlanders) Regiment of Foot was founded in 1794. This memorial is dedicated to those who died between 1794 and 1994.
