Golf Club Clock

This turned out to be a much bigger undertaking than I had initially anticipated! Sometimes the artist in me conceives something that I consider would be nice but then the (self-taught) craftsperson in me has to figure out how to produce it! I was commissioned to produce a stand to accommodate a clock that the client had already procured, to be erected on the first tee at Bradford Golf Club. I think the clock purchase may have been done late at night after a bottle of wine because, when it turned up, it was 3 feet across. This meant that the stand to support it would also have to be quite considerable. It’s constructed from 6×6″ oak posts and 8 oak boards, laminated together. Hand-carved scrolls and a boar’s head crest, hand-cut lettering and 23ct gold leaf gilding finishes it all off. Delivery and installation were also a bit of a challenge. I’d like to thank the greens keepers for all their help.
