I was slightly nervous but also very intrigued when I was asked recently to carve a necklace pendant of a common seal out of … Mammoth tusk! The Mammoth ivory was sent to me by the client. Apparently it is becoming quite common in craft fields due to skeletons becoming uncovered due to ice melt. I was assured that the piece of tusk is genuine, legal and no animals were harmed in the ‘harvesting’. Images of the finished piece below.
” It’s a fantastic piece of work and was gratefully received by my son. Your skill is incredible and it supersedes my expectations.”
